Reviews
  • Hollywoodreporter.com: Veteran music video director Jay Martin makes a highly impressive feature debut with his engrossing crime drama about a trio of desperate young men committing an ill-fated robbery. Featuring intricate, non-linear storytelling and an uncommon emotional pungency, 7 Minutes is a taut, tightly controlled exercise that should spell bigger and better things for its tyro director/screenwriter. 7 Minutes is gripping from start to finish.
  • Nytimes.com: 7 Minutes knows exactly what it is: a directorial calling card to the Quentin Tarantino school of blood-bath cinema. Colorful peripheral characters include Brandi (Mariel Neto), a promiscuous barfly who seduces Mike, and Jerome (Brandon Hardesty), a blubbery policeman who pines for her. In one of the movie's meanest touches, Jerome takes off his shirt, inspects his torso in a mirror, and screams in horrified despair. This film is a nasty piece of work.
  • Pastemagazine.com: Martin's attention to visuals comes from his years as a storyboarder and music video director (Death Cab for Cutie, Nas, Colbie Caillat). He knows his strengths, and his derivative debut is crafted with the methodical finesse and sophisticated composition of someone who prays at the style altars of Derek Cianfrance and Cary Fukunaga. 7 Minutes is a slick ride through a sexy cultural wasteland.
  • LATimes.com: Martin keeps the action, which includes bits of bone-crunching violence, moving apace with solid atmospherics and credible tough-guy dialogue and attitude.
Flyckeringmyth.com: A strong début feature from writer/director Martin, 7 Minutes goes beyond the conventional bank heist drama to provide a provocative and memorable visual experience. 4*.
  • Thestar.com: Writer-director Jay Martin's 7 Minutes puts an entertaining spin on the heist movie with a fast-moving drama that flits from past to present during a bank job. A solid score and tight camerawork shows Martin's background as a music video director translates well to big-screen work.
  • Awardscircuit.com: A solid calling card for writer/director Jay Martin.
Wearemoviegeeks.com: From the moment the three amateur crooks come busting through the door wearing blank, white Halloween masks (which may or may not be a nod to Eyes Without a Face) waving guns they have no intention of using to the final showdown, 7 MINUTES is a remarkable piece of work. I am impressed; I have to give 7 MINUTES at least 4 stars out of 5.
  • Forcesofgeek.com: A surprisingly tight, entertaining heist film.
  • Waytooindie.com: A fun romp for film fans who just can't get enough of watching bumbling criminals struggle to successfully commit a crime.
  • Moviebuzzers.com: Regardless of what your feelings on the ending might be, the road to get there is thrilling and makes 7 Minutes definitely worth a watch. You might think you've seen all that can be done with a heist film already, but you haven't seen something quite like this yet.
  • Shuffleonline.net: 7 Minutes is not so much a whodunnit as it is a "whydunnit." It is stylish, intelligent and entertaining.

Reviews
  • Variety.com: A zesty black comedy whose nebbish hero gets subjected to a prolonged ordeal of painful misfortunes. viewers and programmers with a taste for midnight-movie outrageousness will cotton to its mix of sleaze, quease and bad-taste absurdism.
  • Bloody-disgusting.com: For those seeking a viciously violent, amazingly cast and hilarious thriller, 68 Kill delivers on levels that few recent efforts have. This film’s singular vision of the dark side is brutally entertaining. Its idea of gender and masculinity are more old-fashioned than they need to be, but that doesn’t stop the female leads from giving balls-to-the-wall incredible performances. For this alone, this one is worth watching. This brand of insanity doesn’t come along often.
  • Wegotthiscovered.com: This wacky gender standoff rocks and rolls as a late-night siren should. Haaga is back, funny and fucked-up as ever. 68 Kills feels like a short Tarantino story; a bloody late-nighter that features an unstoppable genre role for AnnaLynne McCord.
  • Dailydead.com: Charm-Filled, Southern-Fried Caper, a wickedly fun heist movie that subverts genre fan’s expectations by playing around with gender conventions, delivering several impressive storytelling swerves that genuinely kept me guessing up until the very end.
  • Filmthrills.com: Part of the beauty of 68 Kill stems from Haaga reversing the gender dynamics we’re used to seeing in this kind of uber violent, modern noir film. Not only Chip is the one in consistent need of rescue by one of the women in his life, but he’s often reduced to cringing and whimpering mess. With 68 Kill, Haaga delivers a crowd pleasing, high octane thriller that is well worth your time and energy.
  • iHorror.com: Trent Haaga’s “68 Kill” is a Bloody Masterpiece of Feminism, Anti-Stereotypes and Dark Humor.
  • ScreamHorrormag.com: Leaves us with virtually nowhere to hide from its bawdiness, frenzied brutality and kinky, kooky humour; all buoyed by a totally talented, committed and game cast.
  • Talkfilmsociety.com: Takes the audience along through a number of wild scenarios, adorned with a series of dimensionalized, grounded characters. While a number of them are deranged psychotics (for lack of a better word), they always capture your attention, and make you wonder just where the story is going to go next. 68 Kill comes well recommended.

Reviews
  • Variety.com: Resourceful and energetic.
  • Hollywoodreporter.com: William Fichtner, terrific as usual.
  • Cinemagazine.nl: Energieke actiefilm.
  • Flickeringmyth.com: A compact, exciting movie. It was no-frills action, with the violence sitting a notch below gratuitous, with enough twists to keep you guessing how things might play out.
  • Moviesinfocus.com: Lives or dies on the action – and it delivers that in spades. There’s a lot to enjoy here including visceral and punchy action sequences and a strong performance from Milo Gibson (son of Mel).
  • Radiotimes.com: Pacey, efficiently made action thriller. Gibson Jr has the glower if not the intensity of his old man, and gets solid support from William Fichtner (as a sardonic soldier buddy), The Wire's Gbenga Akinnagbe and Blade Runner 2049's Sylvia Hoeks (as his handler).

Reviews
  • Silverscreenanalysis.com: The gun-play kicks in with a self-awareness that really makes it pop. It gets bloody and elegant all at the same time and I had fun with the sporadic tones, and noir atmosphere this one delivers. The hyper-reality was tuned-in just right to create a fun escape into a violent world of maniacal villains, art, sex, and gun-fights.
  • Shadowsonthewall.co.uk: Hirsch  [has] fun along the way, veering wildly from thoughtful to petulant to maniacal.
  • Markreviewsmovies.com: American Night portrays plenty of corruption, in the underworlds of both art and crime, and chaos, especially in its action-heavy climax.

  • Fictionhorizon.com: McDonough, as the twisted, blood-thirsty killer who gets his prey every time, is excellent in bringing out the cold-blooded killer.

Reviews
  • Wegotthiscovered.com: The actor gives the kind of performance that awed directors let Brando give at the end of his career: one that's completely OTT.
  • Omenly.com: Nicolas Cage (Eddie King) throws around his nuttiness and violent yet amusing reactions in a way that keeps the audience interested.
  • Cutprintfilm.com: Any moment Cage is on screen here becomes hypnotic. You're drawn into every single bizarre choice the actor makes, completely uncertain of what he's going to do next. In one of the film's best scenes, Eddie's brother Buddy (Deadfall director and Cage's real-life brother Christopher Coppola) shows up to reprimand Eddie for his sloppiness. What follows is a slow-motion dance of carnage, with splashes of blood flying up into Cage's glorious mustache.
  • DallasFilmNow.com: Arsenal frames its relentless beatings doled out by Nicolas Cage against slow-motion effects and a melancholic hymnal of sorts.
  • Filmschoolrejects.com: Cage is mesmerizing whether he's talking, sobbing, hissing, or ranting - his War of the Gargantuas reference is especially endearing.
  • Goodefficientbutchery.blogspot.nl: Cage is here to do exactly what you expect him to do: shout, yell, scream, spaz out, and totally Cage it up.
  • Joblo.com: Cage's whacked-out performance is what makes ARSENAL worth checking out, with him having a blast throughout. He doesn't phone it in at all, and Cage is always fun to watch when he's in gonzo mode.

The story is fast paced, exciting, and plays to its strengths. It is the type of entertaining fluff there is not enough of nowadays.

  • Cooltarget.blogspot.co.uk: AWOL-72 is stylishly shot, Luke Goss makes for a commanding leading man (let's get him in a big budget action film again!), the final fifteen minutes has some nicely staged gunplay and hand-to-hand fights (there should have been more of this), the supporting cast of familiar faces is a welcome touch and, well, Sesma certainly fills the running time with a plethora of beautiful women.

Barely Lethal

Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Kingsman - The Secret Service, The Other Guys ), Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), Jessica Alba (Sin City I & II, Fantastic Four, Entourage, Little Fockers), Jaime King (Sin City I & II, Dokter Hart, Pearl Harbor)

When her disgruntled training master Maxwell Hardman (Samuel L. Jackson) and a dangerous arms dealer Victoria Knox (Jessica Alba) track her down, Megan finds herself with more extracurriculars than any teenager could handle.

Reviews
  • Indiewire.com: Criticwire Survey - The Best Non-Top 10 Films of 2015: It's a dastardly funny comedy, and, in what has to go down as the actor's best year ever, it features Samuel L Jackson as Steinfeld's drill-sergeant-like covert handler. Newman gives the movie a "Mean Girls" touch — and a wit that really is killer.
  • Examiner.com:the tone is firmly tongue-in-cheek ... Steinfeld gets Megan's social naiveté and desire for acceptance. She's exactly the kind of girl we cheer for in all of those old Hughes films. We want her to remain herself, become popular anyway, and get the guy she deserves to be with.
  • Blu-ray.com: a quick pace and a jokey superspy atmosphere, almost resembling a "Spy Kids" sequel in the manner the effort merges cartoonish action with broad performances.
  • CBSlocal.com: I liked Steinfeld in this film, as she has a commanding presence and makes the shift easily from the tough agent to the lost high school girl, at almost a moment's notice. She has great chemistry with both Jackson and Alba, making their roles believable.
  • Soundonsight.com: Steinfeld and Turner are superb casting choices, possibly the best two actresses in the world that director Kyle Newman (Fanboys) could have gotten for those particular roles. Although Steinfeld has been in some clunkers since her Oscar nomination, she's still a great actress, and is fully committed here.
  • The-other-view.com: The story is rock solid, easy to follow, straightforward. It's kinda fun and a total throwback to the 80s/90s high school comedy films, with some decent action tossed in.
  • Themovienetwork.com: Barely Lethal is fun, funny, and an all around enjoyable film. It combines aspects of teen comedies that would make John Hughes proud with action movie sensibilities.
  • VillageVoice.com: Barely Lethal's combination of bawdy humor and earnest affection for its high-school-aged protagonists is surprisingly well-balanced.
  • TheHollywoodnews.com: It's great to see Newman, D'Arco and co. attempting to mix things up with something a little bit different.
  • Empire.com: this high-school actioner ghosts by on its charm and sense of fun.
  • Cine-vue./com: The movie is brimming with terrific one-liners. That sense of humour carries the film a long way; Steinfeld is a natural at comedy, and she is ably supported by a strong cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Mann, Jessica Alba, and Disney starlet Dove Cameron.

Battle Drone

In the vein of blockbusters THE EXPENDABLES and THE A-TEAM, a group of highly skilled mercenaries find themselves betrayed by the U.S. Government, and are forced to fight their way out of an ambush by a new, lethal humanoid drone. Get ready for some intense action!

Reviews
  • Action-flix.com: Mandylor is in true action hero mode. Battle Drone is an epic indie action blast!
  • Bulletproofaction.com: Battle Drone did not have the star power of The Expendables or even some of the other movies inspired by the Stallone franchise, but what Battle Drone did have was plenty of video game style action jammed into the 93 minute runtime. I thought the cast had good chemistry and the movie progressed at an entertaining pace. Battle Drone also had a satisfying ending that left the door open for Rekker and company to see more action in the future.
  • Filmcombatsyndicate.blogspot.nl: For Battle Drone, Gould serves a consistent, solid leading man in Mandylor along with Parè and actress Swain. It's damn good fun!

Reviews
  • TheActionElite.com: Beyond the Law is one of Seagal's better films of late even if he doesn't do all that much; this is Johnny Messner’s show and he gets to be broody and badass while he’s out for revenge.
  • Actionreladed.com: Overall its a solid action thriller featuring a cool cast line up. The story keeps you hooked and has some twists too it.
  • Carlosdev.wordpress.com: Seagal still has plenty of presence.
  • Monsterhuntermoviereviews.com: Such a clear-eyed approach to the pitfalls of a life of crime could only be dispensed by that braggadocios behemoth, Steven Seagal.

  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: Great work from Gigandet, Berenger, and Haro.
  • Thatmomentin.com: Takacs has a good eye for action and pacing.
  • Maddwolf.com: Berenger still isn’t phoning it in. He gives Nick doses of humanity that you don’t often see in films of this type. Gigandet is equally engaging. Haro is beaming with excitement and charm in almost every scene.

Braven

Action, Thriller
Available on VOD: 8 maart 2018
Director: Lin Oeding
Cast: Jason Momoa (Justice League, Aquaman, Game of Thrones, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don't Breathe, In The Blood), Garret Dillahunt (No Country for Old Men, Looper, 12 Years a Slave)

When Joe Braven (Jason Momoa), a humble logger residing along the U.S./Canada border is confronted by a group of deadly drug runners who have stashed heroin in his secluded cabin in the mountains, he must do everything in his power to protect his family. Little do the elite drug runners know the unassuming man they've encountered has an impressive bite colliding two dynamic forces - one fighting for the lives of his family, the other for the love of the kill.

Reviews
  • Variety.com: Braven remains exciting and suspenseful even after Joe vrooms out of the claustrophobic cabin setting on an ATV, triggering a manhunt in the snow that further illustrates Oeding's ability to choreograph action in clear, clean fashion. And that action is all the more involving because the freshman filmmaker gives his actors sufficient time to flesh out their characters before the bullets (and arrows) start flying. To put it simply and gratefully: Braven is the sort of unpretentious yet thoroughly professional popcorn entertainment that brings out the best in everybody involved.
  • Villagevoice.com: Any cheapjack action movie can get a crowd to cheer at its shock kills. It's the best ones that persuade us that there's a clear chain-of-events physical logic at play — that find suspense in one action leading inevitably to another.
  • Latimes.com: Action-thriller 'Braven's' Jason Momoa proves as skilled on land as he is at sea. It's Momoa's show and he brings strength, warmth and gravitas to a part that, thanks to an emotionally-grounded script. A solid, fast-paced action-thriller.
  • Slantmagazine.com: Lin Oeding's Braven thrives on both the beauty of its natural, snowbound surroundings and the brutal instincts of man. Braven is the sort of scaled-down, sure-footed, and efficient action film that the hyper-saturated video-on-demand market needs more of.
  • NYPost.com: For anyone looking for a shot of vengeance adrenaline while waiting for "John Wick 3" to come down the pike, "Braven" will probably fit the bill.
  • Cinemarter.com: Braven will satisfy action movie fans who want to see a chapter that relies more on the physicality of its actors than technology. It has a simple premise, a slow-burn setup, and then lets it all play out logically.
  • Flyckeringmyth.com: Lin Oeding's Braven is the kind of 90s punch-in-the-mouth action flick us genre fans fight tooth-and-nail to find nowadays. A deliciously junkfood Jason Momoa centerpiece that could be wedged right between Commando and Cobra watches. Hell, Oeding's opening lumberjack sequence is a straight callback to 1985's Arnold Schwarzenegger classic (missed opportunity not having Momoa carry a log, if you ask me). Reluctant heroes, stone-cold criminals, packages of dope – it's everything we love about cheesy survival flicks with zero hassle. Simplicity be damned. If there's one thing Braven knows how to do, it's show you a bloody good time.

Reviews
  • Filmink.com.au: Pepper and crew treat their characters with depth.
  • Glamadelaide.com.au: Sensational acting by all and the tense script as the drama unfolds in flashbacks where we come to know our main character’s lives, will have you championing for them. An engaging movie well worth the watch!
  • Walkdenentertainment.com: Barry Pepper is fantastic playing a skilled getaway driver and gives a solid performance. Naturally, actor Sam Neill carries an enjoyable presence on screen as a ruthless man keen for revenge.
  • Livingartscanberra.com.au: The moral imperative is at the forefront of this film – you do need to look behind the blood and gore for it – and Barry Pepper’s understated performance is perfect for the role. This is a film for action junkies.

Reviews
  • Moviesreview101.com: It isn’t afraid to go in all guns a blazing for later fights. The car chases are solid and the fights involving The Frenchman are the highlights.
  • Cultfollowing.co.uk: Jones grits his teeth, saunters about and beats up henchmen as though he were back on the streets of London. Gives Jones and James Clayton a place to play ball.
  • Markreviewsmovies.com: Jones is effectively imposing as the seemingly unstoppable threat.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: a good deal of action.
  • Themailnewspapers.com: sit back and enjoy the crazy.

Reviews
  • 1nfluxmagazine.com: There is no shortage of action in Serafini's latest offering, which is never a problem with the directors films: An enjoyable action film, this will keep you entertained.
  • TheActionElite.com: if you're looking for a Hard R, adult oriented revenge story then you'll have a blast with A Certain Justice. With a stand-out performance from Dolph and surprisingly developed characters, A Certain Justice goes for the jugular and doesn't apologize for it.
  • Examiner.com: Delivers exactly what it sets out to do, an old school martial arts revenge flick. Cung Le is bringing new blood to the game and is clearly ready to deliver the sidekick to the industry like only he can.
  • DVDTalk.com: fast paced, reasonably well acted, plenty violent and generally solid entertainment.
  • AlienBee.net: a pretty cool action flick with a good story and exciting action scenes.

Reviews
  • TheActionElite.com: One of the year’s best action movies with memorable characters, explosive action scenes and brisk pacing that never lets up.
  • Actionreloaded.com: A must-watch for fans of adrenaline-fueled action films. With its powerhouse performances, expert direction, and a gripping storyline, this movie is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
  • Movieweb.com: A deeply engaging character driven story that will have audiences on the edge of their seat. The Channel is bolstered by powerful performances throughout, resulting in an action-packed, bank heist movie thriller, and is not to miss.
  • Thehollywoodoutsider.com: Through blood, violence, and probably more than 3.000 rounds of ammunition per person, The Channel takes the traditional heist formula to another level: fully automatic guns, sulfuric acid, heart-pounding action sequences that last 5-10 minutes, and a blend of family drama. This mission is a non-stop, exhilarating thrill ride.
  • Amovieguy.com: The Channel is an intense and non-stop piece of action, continuing to remind us that when a heist movie is done right, there is nothing else like it.
  • Spectrumculture.com: Kaufman drops the audience directly into a heavily-armed bank robbery and spends the next near half-hour showing why he’s the DTV king of tactical action.
  • Hmuncut.com: high-octane action and impressive display of firepower.
  • Trueviewreviews.com: The action sequences are excellent. There is outstanding choreography, and the military dialogue sounds on point.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: The Channel is the kind of film that deserves to have been picked up by a company like Lionsgate and given the theatrical/digital/hard copy release they give the half-assed thrillers they seem to specialize in these days.

Cold Blooded

Action, Thriller
Available on VOD: 1 mei 2013
Director: Jason Lapeyre
Cast: Ryan Robbins (Apollo 18, Sanctuary), Zoie Palmer (Devil), William MacDonald (Slither, Hollow Man II)

A female police officer has what she thinks is an easy night shift guarding an unconscious diamond thief in an abandoned hospital wing. When his brutal gang members break in to the secured ward, the cop and the robber must form an unlikely alliance to survive the night.

Reviews
  • Fearnet.com: There's always something to be said for a quick and efficient crime thriller that introduces its characters and premise in an efficient manner, and then keeps throwing you bloody curve balls before jolting to a finish in less than 90 minutes. Cold Blooded is shot quite well, scored quite smoothly, and (especially) cut like a fast-paced dream. The cast is uniformly strong, the premise has a nice hook, and things actually get pretty dark and nasty before all is said and done. Fun stuff.
  • Reviewsbytom.blogspot.com.au: Driven by memorable characters and loaded with stomach churning tension, Cold Blooded is intense, harrowing and all kinds of brilliant – one of the year's best thrillers just waiting to be discovered.
  • Filmschoolrejects.com: Surprisingly brutal, strong performance from Ryan Robbins, short and sweet.
  • Soundonsight.org: One of the year's best thrillers, shot quite well with a chilly approach mirroring both the characters and the sterile setting. Cold Blooded is full of fun surprises, features tremendously entertaining characters and takes its violence very, very seriously. It can be just as funny at times as it can be visceral. In a sea of mediocre Canadian films, Cold Blooded emerges as reason to celebrate.
  • Moviedex.com: Lapeyre also directed my favourite, the tense, violent crime thriller Cold Blooded. Immensely talented and impressively prolific. Videovortex.wordpress.com: a really good thriller with great characters and an interesting story.
  • TheTFS.ca: a brutally bloody and occasionally darkly comic morality tale that's been making a name for itself on the Festival circuit, garnering praise from critics whenever it screens.
  • EFilmCritic.com': The filmmaking is remarkably clear-eyed and economical. The first images, almost still photos, suggest snapshots of what happened and why it went wrong. Every edit and line of dialogue have a purpose: not for nothing do I compare Cold Blooded to early Carpenter, who never let plot get in the way of the story.
  • Agentsofgeek.com: Lapeyre has done a remarkable job staying creative with his budget limitations and giving us interesting seedy characters that wouldn’t seem out of place in an Elmore Leonard novel. Cold Blooded cuts straight to the point and we’re in and out before we know what hit us. We are left with a fun tension filled action movie that’s not interested in being deep or philosophical but delivering some entertainment. In that retrospect, I can tell you that we get exactly what we were promised.
Awards
  • Bare Bones International Film Festival 2012: Best Actress in a Feature Film
  • Fant-Asia Film Festival 2012: Audience Award - Best Canadian Feature

Reviews
  • Crypticrock.com: Demon/vampire movies have become a dime a dozen. It is easy to become lost in the genre. In an effort to stand out, a lot of films over think the evil and end up losing the fear and power that vampires should capture. Corbin Nash is not one of those. It succeeds in giving vampires back their power and they have become scary again. Dialogue, characters, and casting all align perfectly to create an atmosphere of paranoia and fear when the sun goes down. It is for these reasons that CrypticRock humbly gives Corbin Nash 4.5 out of 5 stars.
  • Spoilerfreemoviesleuth: Fans of vampire cinema will find much to adore, there are many memorable and dangerous directorial choices that make the film worthy of a viewing.
  • Horrorfuel.com: The best vampire film we've seen in years. This is one dark, action-filled film you’re not going to want to miss.
  • Modernhorrors.com: Has enough of the genre's most beloved in this film to make the metaphorical panties wet of any horror nerd who still carries a torch for nostalgia. Rutger Hauer, Malcom McDowell, and the one and only Corey Feldman, to name drop a few of the "Hall Of Famers" from the top billed cast.
  • Nerdly.co.uk: Thanks to a well-developed story and exceptional performances from the cast, this is a film which is great fun to watch.
  • Pophorror.com: Appreciable performances and action to keep you entertained. This is a dark, gritty crime noir film.
  • Sinfulcelluloid.com: It was bloody, gory, sexual, it also had a great background story to Nash’s character, everything was about this film was done attractively to grab the viewers attention.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: Belonging as much to the action genre as horror, CORBIN NASH delivers several good fight scenes. Vince and Queenie make good foes for Nash and Feldman as a cross-dressing bloodsucker has to be seen to be believed.

Daylight's End

Action
Available on VOD: 23 september 2016
Director: William Kaufman
Cast: Johnny Strong (The Fast and the Furious, Black Hawk Down, Sinners and Saints), Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Millennium), Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1 & 2, One in the Chamber), Chelsea Edmundson (Gangster Squad)

Years after a mysterious plague has devastated the planet and turned most of humanity into blood-hungry creatures, a rogue drifter on a vengeful hunt stumbles across a band of survivors in an abandoned police station and reluctantly agrees to try to help them defend themselves and escape to the sanctuary they so desperately need.

Reviews
  • 28dayslateranalysis.com: Daylight's End and the creators know what their strong points are: action sequences and terrifying scenarios. Consistently uptempo and full of great musical selections, the film creates a compelling and thrilling atmosphere. And, this viewer will be first in line, when the film is released in home entertainment formats; this tense film is not to be missed.
  • Joblo.com: Daylight's End is an exceptionally well made film. The budget was relatively low, but that isn't felt in the film, which appears to play out on an epic scale, with its convincing shots of deserted disaster areas and abundance of action and gunfire. Kaufman knows action, that's the genre he has primarily been working in up to this point, and he used that knowledge to make the action sequences in this film as cool and thrilling as possible.
  • Mikefury.net: One of the most striking elements of the film are the visuals. Kaufman has built a reputation creating slick, cinematic and equally gritty character-driven action with a definite air of coolness. This is made much easier when the star is Johnny Strong, who has to be one of the most underrated leading men in movies today. So for true action fans, horror buffs or anyone who still loves an authentic, exciting movie experience by great artists, Daylight's End is a real blast.
  • Theactionelite.com: The movie is action-packed with plenty of violence and some cool weapons too so if you get to see the movie make sure you've got the sound turned up to 11 for maximum impact. Daylight's End brings the action goods with a badass hero in Johnny Strong, fast pacing and an unconventional script.
  • Truthoncinema.com: Pure Adrenaline and Carnage. This film sets a standard for indie projects with vision larger than their budgets. It rolls hard and fast and pays the consequences for that choice, but ultimately walks away a winner; combining the action-oriented sensibilities of Resident Evil with the world-building prowess of I Am Legend. A worthy edition to the ranks of apocalyptic thrillers, Daylight's End is sure for a cult following if not mainstream success.
  • Screenanarchy.com: One of the best things about this film is the action. The gun battles are meticulously choreographed and made with precision. The tactics are sound and the filmmakers have a clear familiarity with the weapons used. The fights are visceral and feel real, making them much more exciting than most of the CGI-laden films that regularly hit our screens these days.

Reviews
  • Commonsensemedia.org: Muldoon plays scruffy hero Mack with a blast of energy and a cheeky attitude.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: Willis taking on the Rickman role from his most iconic movie. The action scenes are plentiful.
  • Cinemagzine.nl: ‘Deadlock’ kijkt makkelijk weg, het is een degelijk gemaakte B-film.

Billy and his mother wrestle with a lifetime of bad choices, and in the end, only one decision can save them both.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: Scott Windhauser finds a fresh way to deal with old genre business in "Death in Texas." He commits to character and performance, working to get the audience invested in these damaged people and their emotional history, making clear connections between the players while gradually increasing tension.
  • Eyeforfilm.co.uk: Boyle has had a number of misfires over the course of her career, but here she really delivers, and she has great chemistry with Lang. The other main performances are similarly impressive.
  • Jbspins.com: Ronnie Gene Blevins deserves credit for his hardboiled but understated performance as Walker.
  • Nightmarishconjurings.com: This cast is excellent. Bruce Dern brings that same grit that is present in the entire film and it makes him a perfect baddie. As for Stephen Lang, he’s a great actor, giving a great performance of a terribly written character. Truthfully, that’s the heart of the issue with this film. It’s a grouping of excellent performances.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: There’s a viral element in play to increase “The Thing”-style paranoia, and Ninaber has an affinity for tight spaces.
  • Culturecrypt.com: the Ninaber Brothers squeeze every drop of their sweat onto the screen, doing their damnedest to make bullet-riddled battles read as real.
  • Dreadcentral.com: Cool gore shots and compelling monster scenes.

  • Film-news.co.uk: This is blood and action.
  • Aiptcomics.com: Great creature design.
  • TheGuardian.com: The special ops pair’s banter, with Mitchell relishing his line in cheerful sarcasm, is another light in the darkness. Death Valley is never fully disturbing, but enjoyably gross is good enough.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: An enjoyable bit of monster mayhem.
  • Bloody-disgusting.com: Ninaber maintains a narrative pace that delivers thrills and effective downtime

Reviews
  • LA Times.com: Pearce is typically superb as the hero — a self-doubting U.S. marshal named Jim Dillon.
  • Worldfilmgeek.com: a really good indie action film thanks to Guy Pearce’s story of a man on the road to redemption and York Shackleton’s direction, which proves he is a name to look out for in indie action cinema.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: Scott Adkins and Wade Barrett perform admirably, straightforward, largely, but carrying themselves and their characters satisfactorily well. Recommended.
  • Bobafett1138: Really one that's well worth your time.
Bulletproofaction.com: Scott Adkins delivered another top notch performance and added to his already impressive filmography of action movies.
  • Goodefficientbutchery.blogspot.nl: Adkins brings his A-game to this and once again shows he's ready for bigger things.
  • Roguecinema.com: the plot isn't the drawing point of these films, it's the action scenes, and Eliminators does deliver the goods here.
  • Theschlockpit.com"Eliminators is resolutely British, and with some awesome sequences set within the nation's capital city, like a couple of cool car chases and an immense bit of cable car combat, London is close to being the star of the picture. Adkins, as always, put his soul into this.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: Successful with its offering of violent action and tensions between Carpathian Mountain villagers and an invading Mongol army, while the performances find the vibe of the production with refreshing ease, supporting the effort with enjoyable thespian intensity.
  • Eyeforfilm.co.uk: The fighting here is rough and realistic and there are a couple of spectacular set pieces. Watch this on a big screen if you get the chance.
  • Jbspins.com: The action and the freedom-fighting defiance are the things to see here and they are impressive. Recommended for fans of sword-wielding underdog movies.
  • Punchdrunkcritics.com: Great Visuals And Strong Fight Choreography. The directing and editing during the battles is crisp, clear, full of tension, and greatly engaging. The large-scale CGI shots display clashing armies very well, and the close-up and intimate fighting scenes work incredibly well. The final battle especially is quite effective.

Reviews
  • Chicago.suntimes.com: The blood-soaked potboiler First Kill is Generous Pour through and through, from Bruce Willis playing a cop for the umpteenth time in his career to the old switcheroo we can see coming a mile away to the pounding and overwrought score to some genuinely effective detours and subplots.
  • Variety.com: A reasonably entertaining series of off-road chases and backwoods shootouts en route to that final confrontation.
  • LATimes.com: First Kill features an efficient, lightning speed plot.
  • Maddwolf.com: Willis supplies his natural gravitas and Ohioan Shelton makes an impressive big screen debut. As young Danny, Shelton's easy rapport with Gethin Anthony (as kidnapper Levi) is a constant highlight.
  • Thatmomentin.com: A decent crime thriller.
  • Dallasfilmnow.com: First Kill is competent and involving. The action scenes — including one vehicle/RV chase that's constructed cleverly with an uninterrupted sense of place via gliding tracking shots — never feel unrealistic or exaggerated. And even though the film telegraphs a few of its third act character reversals, Miller and screenwriter Nick Gordon plumb the depths of innocence versus malignancy with a shrewd eye for satisfying entertainment.
  • TheIndependentCritic.com: fully devoted to telling a story and telling it well.

Reviews
  • Horrorcultfilms.co.uk: a gripping and entertaining piece of cinema.
  • Comedychords.com: Its fresh take on an old Brit tale is surprisingly enjoyable and the problems don't stop it from being an impressive watch. One of the better Brit gangster flicks to come out since Guy Ritchie dominated the genre and that's not an exaggeration.
  • Cinevue.com: Tanter's film does well to create an authentic sense of the dingy and lurid environs that this rabble inhabits.
  • BringTheNoiseUK.com: certainly a good watch.
  • Hheyuguys.co.uk: Tanter has found another theory intriguing enough to rouse interest and provide an appealing watch
  • Boxofficebuz.com: Don't miss it, there's some truly classic moments contained within the film!
  • TheHollywoodNews.com: off-the-peg gangster fun.
  • Close-upfilm.com: it definitely has a dark edge that other similar films lack. Tanter isn't afraid to hold a mirror to up to the brutality of violent crime rather than glorifying it.
  • Movieemporium.co.uk: There is no doubt that this is very much a film that is male orientated. The language is strong, the women are naked and the violence is heavy and brutal.

Gangster Playboys Retribution

Reviews
  • Screenjabber.com: A slick production.
  • Cinemachords.com: Along with solid performances from the entire cast and an ending that won't let you down, Tanter's latest film has all the makings of a fine British feature. Slick, brutal and has some great one-liners.

Guardians

Action, SF
Available on VOD: 15 juni 2017
Director: Sarik Andreasyan
Cast: Alina Lanina, Anton Pampushnyy, Sanzhar Madiyev, Sebastien Sisak

During the Cold War, an organization called "Patriot" created a super-hero squad, which includes members of multiple soviet republics. For years, the heroes had to hide their identities, but in hard times they must show themselves again.

Reviews
  • ScreenAnarchy.com: The film is a lot of fun indeed. No expense has been spared and there are a number of impressive setpieces, especially when the supervillain starts building a super-antenna in Moscow by stacking several landmark towers on top of each other.

Guns Akimbo

Action
Available on VOD: 3 september 2020
Director: Jason Lei Howden
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Now You See Me 2), Samara Weaving (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri , Home and Away, Bad Girl), Rhys Darby (Yes Man, Jumanji I and II), Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders)

Videogame developer Miles (Daniel Radcliffe) is a little too fond of stirring things up on the internet with his caustic, prodding, and antagonistic comments. One night, he makes the mistake of drunkenly dropping an inflammatory barb on a broadcast of Skizm, an illegal death-match fight club streamed live to the public. In response, Riktor (Ned Dennehy), the maniacal mastermind behind the channel, decides to force Miles' hand (or hands, as it were) and have him join the "fun." Miles wakes to find heavy pistols bolted into his bones, and learns Nix (Samara Weaving), the trigger-happy star of Skizm, is his first opponent. She's at his front door.Gleefully echoing elements of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the Purge franchise, and videogames like Smash TV and Mortal Kombat, Guns Akimbo is hilariously dark, viciously violent, and chillingly prescient. Howden foretells of a future that may soon await us: drone-captured live feeds, UFC-like competitions pushed to an extreme and online streaming platforms used for gladiatorial entertainment all around the world. As Miles navigates the underworld of Skizm, the stakes — and the ratings — have never been higher.

Reviews
  • NWTV.nl: Guns Akimbo is gewoon bizar en dat is oké.
  • Defilmrecensent.nl: Fout en over-the-top op alle beste manieren!
  • Mannen Magazine: Wat. Een. Film.
  • Srsck.com: Guns Akimbo IS wild!
  • Pim-is-watching.com: What the actual fuck... Wat een briljante film!! Ik voorspel een cultstatus. Kaliber Boondock saints. Bril-jant!! Ik ben een fan. De art, de bullshit, de actie. Waanzinnig. Hier heb je een absolute topper mee gekocht. P. de Waard.
  • RogerEbert.com: Guns Akimbo for all its outlandishness, is a spectacularly fun and exciting time whenever the needle drops and Weaving owns her badass, gun-wielding image.
  • Butwhythopodcast.com: Overall, Guns Akimbo is a world of fun mayhem without too much substance but near-perfect character performances and so much stylistic violence. The film also continues to solidify Weaving’s status as a genre queen, which is not to be understated.
  • ign.com: This is balls-to-the-wall action, with Guns Akimbo delivering thrills, spills and genuinely spectacular kills.
  • Gmbacklot.com: Guns Akimbo is a wild ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat enjoying the carnage in a way few films have yet to manage.
  • Crookedmarquee.com: Guns Akimbo is evidence of filmmakers who not only know how to make good movies; they also wear all of their insane, colorful, and playfully nasty influences right on their sleeves — and in this case that’s just a whole lot of fun to watch.
  • Dailygrindhouse.com: This film is a monster. There’s a feral punk energy to it, and Howden directs the hell out of his action scenes. Everything is lit up in blue and red giallo-police-light colors, and the camera loops and swirls around bodies being rent through with bullets, all as a series of 1980s pop covers underline everything. It all threatens to become a little too fatiguing. But Howden knows how to keep a steady hand on everything. GUNS AKIMBO is discordant, cranked-up nuttiness, but it’s never less anything but fun.
  • Joblo.com: a funny little genre mashup, and has enough gore and shoot-em-ups to please genre fans.
  • ModernHorrors.com: Guns Akimbo is an adrenaline-drenched ballet of bullets, bathed in colors that would make Dario Argento proud. It may not land with everyone, but the right audience will go wild for its caffeinated cartoon-colored John Woo stylings.

Seeking help anywhere he can find it, Jack turns to Paulie Trunks (Steven Seagal), a loan shark looking to collect on Jack's poker debts, who might want to protect his investment.

Reviews
  • Flickeringmyth.com: The film looks great with some slick and colourful visuals, the acting is pretty good and the story set-up is fantastic and really draws you in.
  • Goodefficientbutchery.blogspot.nl: Seagal gets a terrific monologue about why he's called "Paulie Trunks" and has a few genuinely funny, possibly ad-libbed lines and he makes every moment count. Gutshot Straight has a lot of positives in its favor.
  • Devon-cornwall-film.co.uk: A nifty little B-movie neo-noir. He may be one of the least showy CSI cast members, but blank canvas George Eads is a surprisingly effective noir antihero, and shoulders the double-crossing narrative convincingly. Admittedly, the pace does slacken in the second half of the film, but Gutshot has enough worthwhile moments to keep you interested. Inessential, but strangely appealing.

  • Vocal.media: Thorne is the perfect canvas for the transgressive humor of Habit.
  • Joshatthemovies.com: A premise bursting with possibilities ... There is certainly style in Habit.
  • Ukfilmreview.co.uk: Habit plays like a film made by people who really liked David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, Tony Scott’s True Romance, and everything John Waters ever made.

After discovering that the new sheriff's girlfriend is on the hit man's list, the lawmen must abandon their law enforcement ideals in order to even the playing field.

Reviews
  • Hollywoodreporter.com: An over-the-top, heavily stylized B-movie-ish mash-up of modern Western and bloody thriller, The Hollow Point sees U.S.-based Spanish director Gonzalo Lopez Gallego (The King of the Hill) seeking to bring a new angle to the bad men in the badlands genre. As homage, the film is visually striking, littered with moments of real cinematographic intelligence, and always watchable, in a nasty sort of way. Bloody fun in the badlands.
  • Variety.com: Wilson is persuasively resolute as the sheriff, and Belushi does sweaty desperation like a pro. But McShane effortlessly overshadows both of them with a flamboyantly mannered performance charged by alternating currents of contemptuous sarcasm and pessimistic gruffness.
  • Culturefix.co.uk: A brutally entertaining thriller that allows McShane and Wilson to deliver some badass cool.
  • We Got This Covered: a blazing contemporary western that finds pleasure in punishment.
  • Thepeoplesmovies.com: Patrick Wilson and Ian McSha take on the cartel in contemporary western meets Mexploitation flick. Director Gonzalo López-Gallego ensures this is a fun, action-packed trip even when navigating through Nils Lyew's overcomplicated narrative. The Hollow Point is nonetheless a brutally entertaining thriller that allows McShane and Wilson to deliver some badass cool. 4 out of 5 stars.
  • Kneelbeforeblog.co.uk: Wilson and McShane are the high points of this film. Their buddy chemistry is completely on point and there is lots of great dialogue between the two of them. Each of them can give as good as they get from the other and there are plenty of laughs too be found in their interactions. James Belushi has a memorable turn as a duplicitous used car salesman and John Leguizamo is excellent as a machete wielding Mexican hitman.
  • Flickfeast.co.uk: With a number of great lines scattered throughout the script, even if it's just a running joke regarding people uttering the word asshole after their first encounters with Wilsons character (who has just returned to the town after some time away), and a few moments of white-knuckle tension, this is everything you could want from a crime thriller/neo-Western. As well as Wilson and McShane, the film also boasts some excellent performances from Lynn Collins, John Leguizamo, and James Belushi. The last one may be the biggest surprise, but it's possible that this is the sort of role he's just been waiting for over the past few years. Is it worth mentioning that McShane almost steals the movie? Yes, I think it is, because he gets many of the best moments.

In Security

Action, Comedy

As a last ditch effort to drum up some business, they start robbing the neighbors to instill fear and create a need for their services. Bullets fly when they unwittingly rob the wrong guy, Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw), who turns in a killer performance as a suburban drug lord with a penchant for kitchen gadgets. Clea DuVall (Argo, American Horror Story) and Adam Arkin (Sons Of Anarchy, The Sessions) co-star in this action-packed comedy featuring a host of hilarious cameos including Ed Begley, Jr. (Arrested Development, Pineapple Express), Vinnie Jones (Snatch, X-Men: The Last Stand), and Golden Globe winner Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Mission: Impossible franchise).

Reviews
  • Chrisandphilpresent.co.uk: Overall a fun little flick, some familiar faces. I would push it as an ideal rental!
  • Filmink.com.au: In Security is a light-hearted comedy with plenty of laughs. Embry and Gladis make for a likeable duo with neither one of them playing the straight guy, aided by an all-star support cast including Alan Arkin as the moody town sheriff and Cary Elwes as the resident psycho with a penchant for kitchen utensil based torture.
  • Filmoria.co.uk: The Beamer brothers create a comedy that is hilarious, chaotic and brilliantly poised with some fun performances.
  • Hidefninja.com: pretty funny and enjoyable, certainly a title I would recommend watching.
Nerdly.co.uk: In Security however has much more than being just a "crime caper" going for it. Admittedly the shift in tone may put some of the audience off but it's the shift that keeps the momentum of the film going, plus it allows Cary Elwes to put in an amazing, insane, and gloriously over-the-top performance as the psychotic drug dealer robbed by the bumbling Kevin and Bruce. It's the introduction of Elwes character which initiates the tonal shift and the darker aspect of the film, yet somehow his character is at the same time completely hilarious.
  • Screenjabber.com: A consistently amusing comedy, In Security is certainly as good as a lot of recent bigger releases. entertaining from start to finish, do yourself a favour and seek this film out.
  • Vodzilla.co: A surprisingly funny black comedy that compares well to many big screen releases.
  • Bringthenoiseuk.com: Embry and Gladis form a likeable double-act in a zippy comedy boosted by amusing cameos from Alan Arkin, Ving Rhames, Cary Elwes and Vinnie Jones.
  • Skymovies.sky.com: Embry and Gladis are a good comedy pairing and when they're mixed with the assorted cameos, particularly the scenery chewing Elwes, they deliver some decent returns.

In The Blood

Action, Crime, Thriller
Available on VOD: 18 november 2014
Director: John Stockwell

Armed with a deadly set of skills, Ava sets out to discover the truth – and to take down the men she thinks are responsible for his abduction, one by one.

Reviews
  • 1nfluxmagazine.com: A movie that kept me glued to the screen...and my adrenalin pumping! An exceptional film all around.
  • Cinema-crazed.com: The excellent Gina Carano takes her shot at her own version of "Breakdown," and "Frantic," with an action thriller that delivers on all fronts. "In the Blood" is a great vehicle for Gina Carano, it's a tense and exciting action thriller I was very much invested in until the very end, and I can't wait to see more from Ms. Carano.
  • CoolAwesomeMovies.com: The bottom line, that is, why "In the Blood" works is the following: Gina Carano is a good action hero(ine). Gina bring that old-school action vibe to the table.
  • KungFuCinema.com: Following her debut lead role in HAYWIRE, former mixed martial arts champion Gina Carano proves with this follow-up that she can not only fight, but proves herself to be a good actress.
  • TheFilmStage.com: This is her Cobra, her Commando, her Double Team — now she is truly an action star.
  • DigitalJournal.com: One of the great things about casting Carano in this role is she is believable. As a former mixed martial arts fighter turned actress, she doesn't need to pretend to know what she's doing in a fight because she actually does.
  • Cooltarget.blogspot.co.uk: It's Carano's relentless mission through the seedier side of the Caribbean that gives the film its momentum and the former fighter turn actress proves again she's got the talent to become a leading female action star.
  • Cinemadeviant.com: You completely get your money's worth with this one and if you are into action movies or (more importantly) Gina Carano then you WILL NOT be disappointed one bit and I can't wait to see her in more movies like this.
  • Variety.com: Ava goes full Death Wish. Not just a martial artist, Ava proves proficient in amateur surgery ("Oh, but you can live without your spleen, can't you?).
  • LATimes.com: Action and thrills are 'In the Blood'.
  • Examiner.com: [The] star is no shrinking violet unable to fend off her attackers. Instead it's MMA star-turned-movie bad ass Gina Carano, in her first solo lead role since Haywire. When she's doing her thing, namely cracking a few skulls, the film is a fun, gritty throwback. She's not only a physical force of nature, bending her screen foes into pretzels with ease, but she's also quite the beauty and someone who has a natural presence. When Carano is given free reign to break a few bones, you never want to look away. A solid old school action flick.
  • Theactionelite.com: Overall, In the Blood really showcases Gina Carano's action hero credentials and if you're looking for a movie with some twists and turns, engaging story and plenty of broken bones then you'll have a blast.
  • 7mpictures.com: Fortunately, "In the Blood" is more like the aforementioned "Taken" and less like "Hostel." Still, it's this ripped-from-the-headlines approach to the story that makes it hit home.
  • ShowBizJunkies.com: The film's well-paced and if you're into reality-driven action scenes, it's one of the better offerings in what's, thus far, been a disappointing year for the genre.
  • Filmschoolrejects.com: Ava breaks more than a few bones on her way to the truth, and that's where Carano shines.
  • DVDTalk.com: It's a stalwart reminder of traditional punch-and-kick action flicks standing firm for a tradition of non-CGI stunts.

Kill Command

Action
Available on VOD: 23 augustus 2018
Director: Steven Gomez
Cast: Vanessa Kirby (Me Before You, Mission Impossible - Fallout), David Ajala (Furious 6, The Dark Knight), Mike Noble (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit), Bentley Kalu (American Assassin), Tom McKay (The Lost Legion)

Set in a near future, technology-reliant society is creating killing machines. Against this backdrop an elite Marine unit is helicoptered in to a remote, off-the-grid island training facility, to test the capabilities of the latest prototypes. They set up positions and make short work of the AI targets in the killing field. However, overnight their sentry goes missing, and when they find the corpse the next day they find themselves in the killing field and the tables have turned. The Marines fight to survive on an island that is overrun by an enemy intelligence far beyond their predecessors, which learns from their every move.

Reviews
  • Avforums.com: It is impressive, particularly for the budget, and the AI creations are positively menacing as they stalk their human prey. Indeed, Kill Command does justice to all of the classics that it gleefully references, and the result is a surprisingly enjoyable indie gem.
  • ActingHour.com: 'Kill Command' is cult film in the making, an enthralling thrill-ride, that capably maintains the balance between action and philosophical explorations of how we view technology, how technology views us, and what it means to be human.
  • GamesRadar.com: Steven Gomez's sci-fi thriller comes on like the ultimate James Cameron homage and fortunately, the retro vibe extends to the storytelling, which is a brisk and well-judged balance. It's a promising debut; the director's background is in VFX and his low-budget creations outshine many blockbusters.
  • TheGuardian.com: Superior sci-fi action thriller.
  • TheHollywoodNews.com: A hugely creative, highly polished and truly solid action/ sci-fi. Highly recommended.
  • ScreenAnarchy.com: If you love military tech and killer robots the production design are top shelf.
  • RadioTimes.com: has a lot more going for it than many bloated Hollywood studio equivalents.
  • FlickeringMyth.com: an impressive first feature. The production design is slick and cool, borrowing colour palettes and influences from many classic sci-fi films to achieve a clean, cold look. The story, while simple, lends itself to great dramatic tension which is beautifully executed by the cast, and Gomez's VFX experience undoubtedly contributes to the flawless CG, which looks much better than a lot of recent big-budget releases.
  • BritFlicks.com: VFX whiz-kid Gomez succeeds where his peers often fail, and gives us an entertaining and exciting piece of future-tech gone wrong.

Mayhem

Action, Horror
Available on VOD: 26 april 2018
Director: Joe Lynch
Cast: Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Okja), Samara Weaving (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri , Home and Away, Bad Girl), Steven Brand (Hellraiser: Revelations)

The story of a virus that infects a corporate law office on the day attorney Derek Saunders (Yeun) is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired.  Trapped in the quarantined building, our hero is forced to savagely fight tooth and nail for not only his job but his life.

Reviews
  • Variety.com: Equal parts corporate satire and violent melodrama, this indie with attitude is an exuberantly gonzo thriller.
  • RogerEbert.com: A stylish, smart, propulsive gore-fest set in a corporate America that takes no prisoners. It’s like “Office Space” if Michael Bolton went on a murderous spree with a nail gun, playing on workplace stress instead of pure id, and it has a violent momentum that’s hard to deny, well-directed by Lynch.
  • Scary Epidemic: Very reminiscent from horror movies like The Belko Experiment and Severance, its concept is filled with lots of dry humor and plenty of gore. Steven Yeun is fantastic in the lead role, and proves that he can carry a movie without an entire cast breathing down his neck (looking at you Walking Dead). Full review here.
  • Horror-movies.ca: You MUST watch "Mayhem" when it is available. This violent masterpiece has little to no flaws, is terrifically entertaining, for various reasons, from beginning to end, and is definitely the best film of the 2017 edition of Fantasia. I reward it with a perfect 5 stars out of 5.
  • Cinemaslasher.com: hanks to its likable protagonists, relatable themes, sharp editing, synthy score, and incredible soundtrack of licensed music, Mayhem is an absolute blast and should not be missed by anyone with an affinity for intense genre cinema. This one is an absolute blast that deserves the highest of recommendations.
  • Culturecypt.com: frenzied fun and vicious violence.
  • Cutprinfilm.com: Lynch stages impalings and hammerings and nail-gunnings for maximum impact. He makes stunning use of sound to give each event its own savage feel. And he escalates the bloodletting in creative ways. But there’s an odd sort of righteousness about it all. Yeun and Weaving are responsible for that. The pair have a palpable, natural chemistry that brings a much needed humanity to the bloody business at hand. Their quippy back-and-forth would be right at home in a romantic comedy if they weren’t, you know, mercilessly killing lots of people all the way.
  • Modernhorrors.com: Lynch’s latest feature is a true crowd pleaser; it’s a God damn blast. It’s vicious and funny, and wildly entertaining.
  • Thewolfmancometh: As a filmmaker, Lynch has fully embraced his enthusiasm and passion for genre cinema while also flexing his comedic chops, all thanks to the tour-de-force performance of his new muse, Steven Yeun.
  • Wegotthiscovered.com: Mayhem is a wonderfully violent middle finger to corporate culture, gleeful in its desire to redecorate cubicles with red blood splatters.

Reviews
  • Spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com: Filled with gruesome kills, a wonderfully hammy villain, and thrilling action sequences, this is the kind of picture that is the foundation for the genre.
  • Actionreloaded.com: The Mercenary doesn’t skimp on violence either it is quite brutal, which I am sure action fans will love. Vandenberg brings his A game and I found the movie too be so much fun.
  • Theactionelite.com: Overall, The Mercenary is the action movie to beat this year and it`s only January 2nd. With a badass protagonist, a hateful villain and no shortage of bloodshed The Mercenary delivers and action fans should definitely seek it out.
  • Worldfilmgeek.com: This is definitely Dominiquie Vandenberg’s shining moment as he proves to be stellar in the lead role. A must see for action fans.
  • Bulletproofaction.com:  Dom Vandenberg is a natural fighter with a background with the French Foreign Legion, a great kicker, he’s excellent with all firearms and a master with the knife. Plus, it pays to have Louis Mandylor as the main baddie. These two together make for an awesome action movie.
  • Filmlegacy.net: There’s an undeniable satisfaction to watching a revenge plot play out, action fans will not be disappointed.
  • Kungfukingdom.com: Delivers all the hard-hitting action viewers crave while blending it with a story of a warrior ready to retire but forced to complete one final mission. Dominiquie Vandenberg delivers a gentle, understated performance as a the title character while simultaneously going all out in the film’s abundant action scenes.
  • Outlawvern.com: it's surprisingly brutal, and it ends up feeling like an origin story for a guy you want to see having more adventures.

Reviews
  • Bulletproofaction.com: Monsters of Man could easily attract the same kind of cult following that takes an unknown film which went direct to video or streaming and make it the type of film that has three or four sequels.
  • Explosiveaction.com: This film was mental! Utterly relentless in its execution, these robots are the true modern Terminators.
  • Horrordna.com: a fast, good-looking film that’s a modern Terminator amped up to eleven.
  • Theactionelite.com: Totally badass and the hard R action make it worth a watch.
  • Voicesfromthebalcony.com: The robots are heavily armed, but they seem to be quite happy to crush skulls, stomp on people and generally get up close and personal with their victims.

Reviews
  • Actionreloaded.com: Paydirt is a fun movie which, as I’m writing i have watched twice already.
  • Crpwrites.com: Paydirt looks good and is an easy movie made for a half-night’s worth of entertainment.
  • Moviesinfocus.com: A fun night at the movies, Paydirt is an entertaining diversion with a game cast. Christian Sesma’s movie features solid acting, a sparkling script along side snappy score and visuals.
  • Worlsfimgeek.com: Paydirt is quite a wild ride with Luke Goss on the verge of retirement with Val Kilmer on the verge of redemption, no matter what it could cost both of them. Plastic

Action, Crime, Thriller
Available on VOD: 4 mei 2015
Director: Julian Gilbey
Cast: Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Eragon), Will Poulter (The Revenant, We're the Millers, The Maze Runner), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, Atonement, John Wick), Emma Rigby (The Counselor, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland), Sebastian De Souza (The Borgias), Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, Stalingrad, Der Untergang, Eichmann)

High octane from start to finish, PLASTIC is based on the incredible true story of a heist of one of Beverly Hills' top jewelry merchants. Brilliant college student Sam has the perfect credit card scam...until his crew robs the wrong man. Now they have two weeks to repay ruthless gangster Marcel US$2 million or they will be dead. Sam and his team devise a scheme to clear their debt by heading to Miami to poach enough cash and merchandise. But they come up short. Now it's up to Sam to finish the brazen heist and turn the tables on Marcel before they all go down.

Reviews
  • Critics.associated.com: A great action film with some genuine comedy to it, and yet another opportunity to see Alfie Allen playing a heartless backstabber, Plastic exceeds the expectations.
  • Entertainment.ie: Gibley, who impressed with the dark A Lonely Place To Die, does rally the troops for the final half hour.
  • Britflicks.com: High octane thriller PLASTIC tells the story of intelligent and brazen Sam (Ed Speleers), who leads a ring of university students to become credit card thieves in order to augment their income. When 'Plastic' ends you'll most likely scratch your head as to how such a super, fantastical crime flew below you news radar. With stick on moustaches, beards and wigs, it's like 'Catch Me If You Can' flung into the internet and mobile phone age.
  • Dailystar.co.uk: GREAT performances and a witty script combine to make this one of the better British crime capers of recent years. Director Julian Gilbey (A Lonely Place To Die, Rise Of The Foot Soldier) has a lot of fun with way it's set up and he has a ball with it when it's being executed. The plot, which is supposedly based on a true story but plays out like an episode of Hustle, is deliciously twisty. But it's the clever dialogue and a dastardly turn from Allen that really makes it tick.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: Dourdan is a fine tough guy.
  • Bulletproofaction.com: How many times can I call Gary Dourdan a badass in my review? Who knows, but he’s definitely a badass.
  • Dansmoviereport.blogspot.com/: a blast of energy and angst, worthy of a re-watch, and to own, rating a strong 8 out of 10.
  • Worldfilmgeek.com: Redemption Day is not only Gary Dourdan’s ticket to be a future action hero, but one who is truly human with a politically charged script by Hicham Hajji. A good way to start 2021!

Redirected

Action, Comedy, Crime
Available on VOD: 13 januari 2015
Director: Emilis Velyvis
Cast: Oliver Jackson (Entity), Gil Darnell (All Things to All Men), Scot Williams (Clubbed, Dead Man Running), Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Hijacked, X-Men: The Last Stand)

REDIRECTED is an outrageous hangover-meets-guy-ritchie type criminal action-drama-thriller comedy with a distinctive flavor of Eastern European exotic. It tells a story of four friends turned first-time robbers John, Ben, Tim and Michael who accidentally get stranded in a middle-of-nowhere Eastern European country and have to fight their way back home through the land of whores, smugglers, dirty cops, cheap beer and sick fantasies. In order to save their asses, friends must not only overcome an ultimate culture shock experience, but also rediscover their friendship.

The plan seemed 100% bulletproof: They take over an illegal casino in London, get the money, catch a plane to Malaysia and get lost in mind-blowing exotics of emerald jungle, golden beaches, cheap alcohol and teenage sex. The plan was a genius, and it worked. Almost.

They took over a casino and they got the money around one million pounds in cash. But the bad guys started shooting. Michael freaked-out and tried to back away. Tim had no chance but to beat sense into him with a fire extinguisher, which resulted in Michael boarding a plane senseless. The plane took off and And then a volcano in Iceland started spewing ash like crazy and all the flights had to be grounded. This is how John, Ben, Tim and Michael got stranded in some post-soviet Eastern European country with an unpronounceable name and sick attitude towards everything.

That's when all the fun starts.

Reviews
Iedereen is crimineel, alcoholist, hoer of oud, of alles tegelijk.
  • Britflicks.com: Redirected is a nicely made film with high production values ans has laughs a plenty. A comic gangster caper that's worthy of a look.

Reviews
  • Asianfilmstrike.com: Wang Xueqi is as commanding a presence as ever, and gives Sly Stallone some competition when it comes to being a believable action hero in his seventies, and Jason Isaacs makes a strong impression. There are a few genuinely nail-biting scenes: a jeep’s mad dash through raining lava right to the edge of a cliff is a showstopper.
  • Asianfilmfans.com: This is Skyfire, a modern [English language] Chinese disaster movie – the end of product of what happens when you mix Jurassic World and Dante’s Peak – and oh boy, are you in for a treat.
  • Fareastfilms.com: shows the swaggering expertise of Chinese cinema today.
  • Screenhkblog.wordpress.com: Simon West's workmanlike direction does deliver some goods here.

Reviews
  • Blu-ray.com: There Are No Saints is fixated on ugliness, which is a Schrader specialty, and he creates a particularly hostile world.
  • Eyeforfilm.co.uk: Not for the faint-heated.
  • Battleroyalewithcheese.com: A vintage cast of hard men, such as Tim Roth, Ron Perlman and Neal McDonough. Overall worth a watch if you want to see men, being MEN.
  • Highonfilms.com: It is the action that truly excels. The brutality of its execution and the resultant gore enhances the gritty vibe of the movie.
  • Jbspins.com: Recommended for fans of payback.
  • Nightsandweekends.com: With its heavy themes and sometimes gruesome violence, There Are No Saints isn’t the typical brainless action movie. But this story of a man fighting to save his son will definitely give you a lot to think about long after it’s over.

Vendetta

Action
Available on VOD: 6 mei 2014
Director: Stephen Reynolds
Cast: Nick Nevern (The Sweeney, Vendetta), Danny Dyer (Age of Heroes), Vincent Regan (300, Snow White and the Huntsman, Lockout), Ricci Harnett (28 Days Later, Rise Of The Footsoldier), Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones, Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, Hollyoaks)

George never meant to kill the robber – he was just defending a girl from the jacked up kids who were trying to rob her. Arrested for murder his world is turned upside down. But the next night the doorbell rings and before George has even opened the door the gang have swarmed into his house – they beat him senseless, rape his wife and tie them up and set fire to them. Thoughtless, feral.

Jimmy, George’s son, has been dishonourably discharged from the Royal Marines in Afghanistan and is on his way back to London when he gets the news. A calculating warrior forged on the battlefield, Jimmy was an interrogation specialist who knows more than he should. It isn’t long before he’s on the trail of the gang who murdered his parents, exacting his own kind of chillingly brutal justice. With the police closing in and his old regiment determined to stop him from airing their dirty laundry on trial, Jimmy goes underground.

His actions have created a media frenzy, London’s first vigilante of the 21st Century but will his devastating course of action spell the end of the woman he loves?

Reviews
  • Britflicks.com: The plot and action rattle along with a few reversals of expectations along the way to keep you guessing. Danny Dyer is convincing as the hero. In some senses he's part Stallone's Rambo and part Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills (Taken).
  • TheFilmPodcast.co.uk: Vendetta will rightly draw comparisons to Death Wish and Harry Brown and is easily the best British thriller in recent years, what the film will be remembered for though is the performance given by its leading man, the days of Danny Dyer cockney geezer have long gone, this is a complete character re-invention and a controlled staunch performance showing his critics and audience alike why he was Harold Pinter's favourite actor. There is tension and trauma bubbling under the cool dangerous exterior with Dyers stone killer only giving glimpses of his former self with darkly comical wisecracks before dispatching the next victim in a more violent and inventive way than the last.
  • HeYuGuys.co.uk: With propulsive storytelling from Reynolds and a reined-in, powerful Dyer in the form of his life, Vendetta's a simplistic yet gripping movie.
  • Skymovies.sky.com: Grisly. Gritty. Brutal. Naughty.
  • Totalfilm.com: looking a million dollars thanks to the gleaming images of DoP Haider Zaifar, Vendetta sees a restrained, glum-faced Danny Dyer going all Death Wish on the hoodies who killed his parents.
  • Theshiznit.co.uk: Vendetta is a four-star film, and I hereby stake my journalistic reputation on it. Reynolds should be congratulated on pushing through a well-told, character-driven story in a field where dumb violence and tits will usually suffice.
  • TheRayGun.co.uk: It's a veritable return to form for a man who was a video favourite and then became almost a caricature of himself. People want to like him and his films, with Vendetta, he's let them do that. This year's big post-Christmas treat for the fellas, it's a bona fide video hit.
  • Thehollywoodnews.com: A brutal revenge thriller ... Dyer holds his own in a moody and subdued performance that is possibly his best since the superb Christopher Smith film, SEVERANCE.
  • Theactionelite.com: Incredibly tense, disturbing and thoroughly entertaining. Bottom Line: 4 / 5 - Explosive!
  • Thepeoplesmovies.com: Vendetta keeps things simple (perhaps its key strength) never attempts to over-complicate its slick, effective story. Dyer is on top-form in this fast-paced gritty revenge flick which stands as the highpoint of his recent career,

Reviews
  • Filmthreat.com: Begos shows us what he’s really made of by building a relentless pace so packed with tension we remain firmly at the edge of our seats, biting our fingernails until there’s nothing left.
  • Austinchronicle.com: Splatter. Some are imitate it, mimicking the gritty, gory glories of 1980s exploitation cinema. Yet some are clearly born to it, relishing the way that blood and brains spread over a ring-marked sticky bar top. Count Joe Begos among the latter and VFW is his VHStastic nightmare, an unrelenting throwback to a gleefully caustic view of America's capacity for untrammeled nastiness.
  • Joblo.com: Joe Begos has assembled a killer cast of legit genre movie icons for his action-horror hybrid VFW. A take on John Carpenter’s ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (right down to the Carpenter-esque score), this old genre staple gets shaken up a bit in that, rather than have the bad guys totally outmatch our heroes, the good guys are more than able to hold their own – and then some.
  • Film.avclub.com: Drenched in grit, gore, and neon, VFW is an action throwback that hits all the right notes.
  • Thefilmstage.com: Joe Begos Delivers a Carnage-Filled Throwback.
  • Slashfilm.com: It’s vile, slick with repugnance, and appropriately inhumane. A canon full of guts blasted straight into your face – the Fangoria way.
  • Nytimes.com: Characterized by blood-red lighting and bright-blue dialogue, the movie revels in a blasted urban setting that’s as repugnant as most of its supporting characters. And that’s before heads explode and faces are pounded to dog meat.
  • Hollywoodreporter.com" the pic succeeds on its own terms of being a nostalgic throwback to the days when such B-movies routinely opened on double and triple bills in urban grindhouses.
  • Blu-ray.com: Violence is the selling point of VFW, as the Fangoria production is drenched in blood, with weapons repeatedly destroying bodies. It is primarily out to raise hell, and it does well with frequent thrills, giving this unusual cast room to go wild.
  • Eyeforfilm.co.uk: it’s brash, ballsy and a lot of fun to watch.
  • Theactionelite.com: Overall, VFW might well be the best action movie of the year so far and we’ve had some great ones; the cast are all at their best but it’s the glorious orgy of violence that will keep you glued to your seat from beginning to end.
