Prisoner of War

SYNOPSIS

REVIEWS

  • Keithandthemovies.com: It excels with the action, especially the well-choreographed and deftly shot fight sequences. The hard-working Adkins does most of the heavy lifting, impressively kicking and punching life into this serviceable throwback action movie.
  • Inreviewonline.com: Like the best combat films, Mandylor doesn’t overcut or rely too heavily on slow motion, instead allowing movements to play out in real time and only editing to emphasize impacts.
  • Justmyopinion.net: Adkins puts in a career best performance as the man who may be able to save them all.
  • Intheirownleague.com: One of Adkins’ best due to its emotional sincerity in its formula narrative, powerful fight scenes and effective performances. Recommended.
  • Loudandclearreviews.com: If Prisoner of War works, it’s because Mandylor shoots the fights and shootouts with energy and style, moving his camera with intent, and never making use of over-the-top shaky cam or disorienting fast cuts. Additionally, the combats themselves are impressively choreographed, featuring actors (including Adkins, of course) who know what they’re doing, and look good while kicking, punching and making some amazing moves.
  • Flickfeast.co.uk: A film that delivers brutality and entertainment in equal measure, Prisoner of War is also a testament to the strength and honour of the men who fought in those conflicts.
  • Blu-ray.com: Adkins is certainly good here, portraying a caged man looking to make sense of his enemy.
  • Weliveentertainment.com: Adkins delivers as always, presenting an athleticism that never really goes over the top. Instead, he just shines at knowing how to conduct himself in a fight, and having choreographers that get what’s needed to account for his shape and size, let alone what he can do to fend off multiple opponents at once.
  • Upi.com: Prisoner of War is a full-bodied throwback to physical action movies where the heroes really get their hands dirty.
