Je hebt wel eens van die dagen dat het allemaal tegenzit. Helaas is dat scenario dagelijkse kost voor Henry Altmann (Robin Williams), een verbitterde kniesoor die boos is op alles en iedereen. Altijd. Wanneer Dr. Sharon Gill (Mila Kunis) hem meedeelt dat hij een hersenaneurysma heeft, eist hij ter plekke een sterfdatum. Hij windt zich daarbij zodanig op dat ze er, ten einde raad, 90 minuten uitfloept. Haar dag was namelijk ook geen lachertje. Voor ze haar onbesuisde reactie kan relativeren, stormt Henry geschokt haar kantoor uit. Terwijl Sharon de hele stad begint uit te kammen om haar fout recht te zetten, probeert Henry zich te verzoenen met iedereen die hij ooit gekwetst heeft... en 90 minuten is weinig voor een ellenlange lijst.
